Technology Notification: The Blackboard update could not completely be installed because of some database complications. We have reverted to the prior version of Blackboard and are working with Blackboard support to identify what went wrong. Technology Notification: GRCC IT has received an update from Blackboard that is supposed to fix the following: Issue: Inline Grading Description: The navigation buttons on the Grade screen (view attempt) are not working correctly. The Exit button performs no action when clicked. Submit brings up an error message. The user can no longer click on the Grade Center link in Course Management to return to the Full Grade Center. Interim Workaround: Ignore the false error message, by selecting Leave. Changes will be saved. Issue: Unable to Edit Forum Thread Due Dates or Time Description: Whenever one selects the date or time buttons to adjust a thread, the page "jumps" to the top, and no options for date or time are available. Interim Workaround: NA Issue: Apostrophe Entered in Content Editor Converts to HTML Code Description: When submitting text via the Content Editor while using Internet Explorer 11, the apostrophe is converted to HTML code Interim Workaround: NA Issue: Cursor and Screen Jumps to the Last Question on Test Description: On a test that is presented with questions all at once, the cursor and screen jump to the last question, on the bottom of the screen, while the user is only partially complete with the test. Interim Workaround: Display the questions "One at a Time" - NOTE: IT will work with DLIT to test the update in a separate test environment ( We want to ensure the update doesn't introduce any additional issues. The update is tentatively scheduled to be applied to our Blackboard production environment ( on October 22nd if no new issues are identified. —————————— Other issues without a resolution from Blackboard support: Issue: Access Denied Error on Discussion Board: Description: Users with the forum role of "Manager," receive an "Access Denied" error message when attempting to access an unavailable Forum. Interim Workaround: Discussion boards will need to be made available in order to be modified. Issue: Error when creating McGraw Hill assignment: Description: When there is no assignment created and deployed in McGraw-Hill Connect and the user tries to create a new assignment, the user receives a "red banner error Interim Workaround: Create a dummy McGraw-Hill assignment in McGraw-Hill Connect. This should clear the error. The Instructor should then pair the Blackboard course with McGraw-Hill Connect first and follow the steps below Issue: YouTube Sign in: Description: Within the content editor you can sign in and browse your YouTube media. During the session however, you will need to log in every time you create a new item. Interim Workaround: NA Issue: Grade book Last Access column NULL for some students Description: The Last Access Date is not updating for all Users. In the Grade Center and Performance Dashboard, it shows one date but it's clear Users have performed additional activities. Interim Workaround: NA Issue: Unavailable gradable items are not visible in My Grades if ungraded Description: Prior to the redesign of the My Grades tool (in SP9 or older versions), the list of Grade Center columns included items that were also unavailable. With the new My Grades, unavailable items (items with AVAILABLE_IND of N) are not visible in My Grades. Interim Workaround: NA Issue: YouTube "full screen mode is unavailable" Description: The Youtube mashup player displays a "full screen" button in the player. However, when clicking on the full-screen button it does not switch to full-screen mode for the video. Instead a popup saying "full screen mode is unavailable" is shown. When clicking on the 'Learn More' link of the error, users are directed to a Youtube Help page. Interim Workaround: Click the Share arrow in the upper-right corner of the player. Next, click the Youtube link to open the page in YouTube in a separate window. Finally, click on the full screen button in the separate window. Issue: Hide Members Already In Another Group In This Set Check Box Does Not Stay Unchecked Description: When you edit the group set, the option "Hide members already in another group in this set", still remains ticked even though it has been unchecked.
